About File Transfer
File transfer allows the user to send claim files and download the files for viewing the status.
In the Practice Management System (PMS), the claim file is created either automatically, through scheduled system processes, or manually. athenaEDI detects the file has been created and registers the file as available for processing and transfers the file. athenaEDI services looks for available files either on a scheduled basis or when the file transfer functionality is used to send the files.
The File Transfer Screen contains two main tabs:
- Send Files - Sends the file, for files not swept and must be manually transferred, begins the process of importing the file into the athenaEDI Services database. Thereafter, the file is sent to the payor.
- Receive Files - Enables users to download files from athenaEDI to their practice management system.
